GDPR's The Armchair Activist

Be part of the solution - Help us make a difference...

For those new to us and those who have been with The Armchair Activist for a long time, HELLO! This community was established in 1996 and has survived through a number of site and e-list changes. Now we are here (with the E-List remaining the same). First, to all our veteran members, thanks for the past 12+ years. The Armchair Activist organization and E-list has done much for my personal do-gooding efforts throughout the years and I hope it has done and will do the same for you. We have a lot to do in the future if we want to re-make the world into a haven of respect, equality, and progressive values. This will be our home base -- for information, resources, ideas, news, networking and community building and, for those who want it, space for self-expression, friends, organizational space and more. So we are glad you are here. Introduce yourself and then take a spin around to get acclimated. Start a blog or join a group. Then let's get busy and make the world a better place!

I'll start: I'm Natalie, founder of ARMACT, co-founder of the BAC, and station manager of GDPR. I grew up within the Catholic Church, learning social justice alongside the three Rs... working toward a better life is the only way I know how to live. Nearly half a century later, I'm doing the same thing and looking to meet and work with others in the activism biz. You can find me around here or doing GDM stuff via http://gratefuldread.net.

How about you?

Hi there! My name is Jennifer, I'm 31, mother of 2, married, from outside of Cleveland, Ohio. I used to be HUGE in gay rights activities & I am still a donating member of PFLAG. After I had my kids I unfortunately fell out of participation with the parades, gatherings, etc... Now that my kids are older (5 & 6) I have more time to get back into the swing of things & get involved as much as possible. ESPECIALLY with the (I feel) crisis happening in California. I want my children to learn how important equality is for everyone; not just the selected groups.
I did not grow up in any type of religion whatsoever, but over the years I have become interested in learning about different sects of the church & religion & learning about faith in general.
I'm glad I found this site! It seems like a good place to start getting involved with issues once again!
Thanks for having me! See you around the site!
